Ain't that the truth...

Leroy Sievers has been blogging for NPR about his experiences with terminal cancer. He has an entry today that really hits home. (Scroll down for the February 14 entry.) To me, the mental game of the disease has often seemed the hardest part. Mr. Sievers has been dealt a much tougher set of cards than I, but I've identified with many of his posts about life in Cancerland.

2015

I like the ring of that-- 'eliminate the suffering and death due to cancer' by 2015. More here (scroll down for 2015 reference)

RIP Molly Ivins

Molly Ivins succumbed yesterday to perhaps the most lethal form of breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer. Ms. Ivins was well known for her wit and she certainly used it during her battle with the disease.

She didn't announce this latest return of the cancer until she was two months into treatment, saying that, "God knows I don't need another casserole."

Here's another quote that resonated with me:

'One of the things I said was that I had been in great hopes I would become a better person as a result of confronting my own mortality, but it actually never happened. I didn't become a better person.'
